‘Integrating rural/remote students for e-learning
is a social responsibility’
- Janekunte Basavaraj

‘Technological institutes should come forward to integrate rural/remote students for e-Shikshana and also it is their social responsibility’ opined Shri Janekunte Basavaraj, Chairman of Proudhadevaraya Institute of Technology.
He was speaking after the launch of web resources and release of DVD of e-resources e-siri available on college website and addressed a video conference with students.
He further said, ’Education system should not confine for the rich, but also for the deprived classes.  The COVID-19 circumstances have led us to educate ourselves for off-campus learning.  Technological students are now resorting for the synchronous and a-synchronous type of online learning.  The students in the cities who are well connected with the internet facilities are replenishing their knowledge by online coaching.  They are reaping the benefits of online services.  However around 20 to 25 % of the students are in villages and remote areas and thus they are not able to connect themselves with the new arena of online coaching.  The internet coverage is poor, and highly intermittent.  In this sense, strict online synchronous coaching is not possible and this potential crunch of such students will be deprived from online coaching and they will suffer in today’s competitive world. In this regard Proudhadevaraya Institute Of Technology Of Hosapete, has come forward with a novel eresource repository of Proudha e-siri’
The Principal Dr S M Shashidhar said, ‘e-siri is a novel endeavor.  In this recording and uploading of all e-resources of all Engineering & MBA subjects to PDIT website is ensured.  The e-resources include, online notes, PPT’s of subjects, video links, videos of laboratory experiments and many more. The students staying in remote village can access these e-resources at their convenient time when they have internet facility.  This will avoid the constraint of strict synchronous type of online coaching and students will learn at their ease and convenience of internet availability. This endeavor will help them to compete with the world. The e-resources can be referred frequently without any loss of quality and clarification of doubts can be ensured with respective teachers with WhatsApp, e-mail at their convenient time. Students can face the exams comfortably.’
HODs were present on this occasion. This e-siri launching was live covered on social media.
