Appeal to the VC-VTU

by PRINCIPAL

Sir,

Sub:- Revision of Scheme of Examination & Question Paper Pattern for 14 Series Syllabus.

With reference to the above-cited subject, the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgavi, has revised the syllabus of B.E. Courses by incorporating updated topics with effect from the year 2014-2015. University has tried to bridge the gap between the Industry and Institute. The revised syllabus has been appreciated by the academic fraternity in our university.

In this connection, the module type of scheme and question paper pattern under this new scheme has adversely affected the results of the VTU examinations held during Nov/Dec 2014. The first semester B.E. examination Results of the university on an average has come down below 50% and the highest marks scored by the top scorer has come down from 10 to 15%.

The students who pass out from the VTU under percentage system cannot compete with the students of autonomous institutions and deemed universities, where the marks are awarded on gradation basis. Even a failed candidate in an autonomous institution will write the examination within a month and obtain the gradation along with other passed candidate.

The job opportunities and openings for getting job for students under VTU system will be narrowed down because of the new modules type scheme and question paper pattern.

As we discussed with the Principals, Professors and other faculty members of various institutions under VTU, we opine that the revised syllabus framed shall be retained without any alterations, but the module type of question paper pattern be replaced by the old scheme question paper pattern, so that the students studying in the institutions under VTU, will be benefitted and they will perform well in the examinations and score good and competitive marks to get better job opportunities.

We request the honourable Vice-Chancellor to kindly consider the opinion of teaching fraternity and revise the question paper pattern and oblige.

     PRINCIPAL
